REALLY GOOD
1st BANANA HAMMOCK
Broken Compass Tiki, Burbank
Rum, Creme de Cacao, coconut-banana cream, coconut syrup, black walnut bitters. Top with 2 banana chips.
3rd CATEGORY 5 HURRICANE
Louisiana Bistreaux, East Point
Bacardi Black, Bacardi Tropical, final juice and a mix of peach and raspberry puree. Yum
5th COTTONS
Fisherman's Restaurant & Bar, San Clemente
I didn't try this one, but my husband and daughter loved it. Myers rum, triple sec, pineapple and orange juice, topped with 151 rum.
6th OAXACAN JELLYFISH
La Popular, Los Angeles
Dakabend Oaxacan rum, pineapple, lime, blue lemongrass, coconut cream, lemongrass smoke bubble. Really fun and pretty tasty too!
8th TRESTLE
Fisherman's Restaurant & Bar, San Clemente
Melon liqueur, rum, pineapple juice, coconut cream. Similar to a pina colada.
9th WIKI WACKER
Luau Larry's, Avalon
Cruzan aged light rum, Parrott brandy, pineapple/orange juice and grenadine. The drink comes with the hat (or a sticker)
11th ADULT CHOCOLATE MILK
The One Up, Los Angeles
This was delicious. However, the glass is TINY (as wide as an ice cube) and it is filled with ice cubes, so there's almost no drink in there. If I'm going to spend $13 on a drink, I want more than a couple gulps
PRETTY GOOD
12th PINA COLADA
Las Hadas Restaurant, Los Angeles
Cocktails midday? Scandalous! And nice...
13th COQUITO
Mofongos, Los Angeles
"Coquito is a Puerto Rican beverage made with vanilla, coconut milk, coconut cream, rum and spices that is traditionally served during the December holidays. Coquito means "little coconut" in Spanish, and coconut provides the majority of the drink's flavor and texture." This was REALLY thick. There was cinnamon on top, so it really did feel like a holiday drink.
15th RUMCHATA
Los Tres Hermanos Restaurant, San Fernando
Malibu rum, coconut, pineapple juice, vanilla syrup, horchata, Myer's Dark Rum. Tastes nothing like horchata. Actually, it tastes like a pina colada.
16th BANANA BERRY BLISS
The Third Place, Lancaster
White rum, banana liqueur, cinnamon, sugar, lime, blueberry. I didn't really get all of the flavors from these ingredients. It was a little strong but pretty good.
JUST OK
17th PEACH DAIQUIRI
Old Juan's Cantina, Oceano
Weak. Mostly ice. Tasted more like a slushie
18th MAI TAI
Duke's Malibu, Malibu
So cocktails aren't the draw at this place. #dineLA
20th MAI TAI
Broken Compass Tiki, Burbank
Not sweet and very alcoholic. My husband thinks that he probably just doesn't like mai tais. The ones we got in Jamaica were great, but maybe not typical.
21st WRETCHED BLUE MILK
Scum and Villainy Cantina, Los Angeles
Rum, Coco Lopez, Blue Curacao, Pineapple Juice.
22nd RUM COCKTAIL
Odys + Penelope, Los Angeles
I don't remember what this one was called and their menu online is not updated. It has honey and rum and some kind of bitters in it. Doesn't really matter because we won't be getting it again anyway.
23rd HORCHATA FUERTE
Trejo's Cantina - Woodland Hills, Los Angeles
Rum, horchata and cinnamon. Seriously...just pour Rumchata in a glass and stop trying to recreate that. You failed.
NOT FOR ME
24th THE PALACE CARIBBEAN RUM PUNCH
The Palace Grill, Santa Barbara
Caribbean fruit juices, island flavors, and Myers dark rum. I don't know what those island flavors are... but it had a savory taste to it, and there was something faintly fishy in the smell.
26th UNDERWRITER
Bible Club PDX, Portland
Plantation Pineapple Rum, Koloa Coconut Rum, Cinnamon infused Banane, Tiki Spice. Oof...way too strong.
