Fried battered peanuts. ADDICTIVE & the BEST dish at PEKIN.
2nd HONEY ROASTED ALMONDS
Fontana Farms, Ceres
Can't go wrong with honey roasted.
3rd WARMED MIXED NUTS
SQ 021, Newark - Singapore
At least they didn’t take this away!
4th WARMED MIXED NUTS
SQ 28, SIN - SEA
I love that they warm their nuts just before serving,
5th SPICED NUTS AND SEEDS
A Little Farm On The Hill, Bentong
Nice accompaniment to the lemongrass fizz.
10th MIXED NUTS
Summer Pavilion, Singapore
At quite possibly the poshest Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been, courtesy of a fabulously wealthy relation. They’ve got the prettiest flatware I’ve ever seen at any Chinese restaurant I’ve been.
11th MIXED NUTS
SQ 35, Los Angeles - Singapore
Warming your nuts (literally): always a good idea.
PRETTY GOOD
12th SPICED TIKHALAL CHILLI SWEET AND SALTY CASHEWS
Soots Cook Nook, Private
Savoury-sweet party nuts for today’s impromptu gathering. Sweetened with honey, spiced with a tarka of cumin, amchur, Tikhalal chilli powder, a sprinkle of nigella seeds, and paired with a peach beer cocktail. Took all of 45 minutes.
14th BRAISED NUTS
樂天客棧 Paradise Inn, Petaling Jaya
Braised peanuts and chestnuts, but mostly peanuts.
15th 三都屋 豆せぞろい
Food Show, Shibuya City
From what I can gather, these cracker nuts have various flavor coatings that include plum powder, sesame, shrimp, green seaweed, kelp, cheese (ok, did not taste that one coming), squid, etc. etc…in the manner of King Brynner.
