Young wine that’s bottled at the earliest stages of fermentation for autumn drinking. It tastes like grape juice and my mom would have enjoyed this. Unfortunately, I was unable to bring a bottle home to her 😑

BRIEF: “Fruity red plum and chocolate aromas, rich flavour and medium body. Ideal with red meats, cheeses, well-seasoned stews and pasta with spicy sauces.” SOOT’S TAKE: Very drinkable oaky red. Enjoyed without my failed bolognese 🙁 of which this wine was a part.

Not a bad red to pair with Brazilian-style Portuguese pizza.

No empanada to accompany this but it went really well (“damson and scented red cherry fruit in all its purity”) with the wagyu.

Quite a delish lo-cal, minimally sulphuric wine to decompress with and why not feel obnoxiously smug about providing 1 human with a year’s worth of potable water while we’re at it? 🍷➡️💧

BRIEF: “Intense, garnet colour. This Altano Organic is beautifully scented, with floral and ripe red fruit aromas. On the palate, the wine shows excellent structure and balance and the fruit is fresh and focused. The elegant long finish denotes the balance afforded by the perfect acidity. This wine is made with 100% organically grown grapes from the family's vineyards.” SOOT’S TAKE: Lovely on the nose and on the palate. Clean tasting. I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed their other tinto, if not more. Hats off to the Symingtons for (literally) making it in Portugal.

Got this personal sized bottle for $8. One of the cleanest tasting reds I’ve had in recent memory.

A smooth red with dark berry undertones. One of the better reds I’ve had in a while.

PRUNES are what I’m getting with a whiff of this wine I purchased during a wine tasting at a South Australian vineyard. I also remember the accompanying live and impromptu guitar music from my pourer although I definitely did not get the impression of prunes 5 years ago.

Malbec and a throwback.

I loved the abundance and affordability of good wine in 🇦🇷 but what really impressed upon me that night about this resto was its retro ambience. 💕🍷💕 #mood

Intense.

8 months in oak barrels, 70% french and 30% American and harvested in the 1st half April. From Mendoza to mi boca >10K miles away. Pleasant enough on the palate to go with one-pot baked ziti with sausage and spinach.

Closing my eyes as I sip this and transport myself to a place full of trees… 🌳🌳🌳

BRIEF: “It's not so much the precise location of the vineyard that matters here, but the name of the proprietor and winemaker - Pierre Lurton, presiding genius at two of Bordeaux's most fabled châteaux- the awesome red Saint-Émilion Cheval Blanc, and the supreme sweet white d'Yquem. Marjosse is where Pierre lives, almost midway between the two properties. The vineyard is in fact on a fantastic site, a clay and limestone plateau high above the river Dordogne, with some of its soil surprisingly similar to Saint-Émilion. If this is what Pierre drinks at home, it's impressive. Beautifully balanced, wearing a light covering of oak sweetness over dry ripe fruit that is just starting to suggest raspberry and blackcurrant, and subtly scented with mint.” SOOT’S TAKE: Pierre has decent taste in vin.

Had to filter the sediment out of this after leaving and almost forgetting about the bottle for 7 years. Thankfully it still tasted fine. Will apply the rest to some tinto de verano.

Quite possibly my first all-natural PF homemade wine, legacy of Vittorio Marando who brought traditional farming and wine making practices from his native Calabria to this side of the antipodes. I was hoping to meet Signor Vittorio but alas, I was 3 years too late.

Post (first attempt @) kueh lapis legit (KLL) libation before I find out if the KLL gods have smiled upon or cackled at yours truly? 🙄 *For anyone wanting to try their hand at cake baking, this is NOT the cake to start with 🥹😭🍷🍷🍷🍷😹

A very drinkable red. I agree that it’s smooth and juicy, and maybe brimming with dark cherry, maybe even plum? 🤨 The black pepper and spice notes just aren’t happening for me though.

Not bad, but maybe not the best accompaniment to the grilled cheese I made.

It’s two buck Chuck-ish but hey it ain’t bad for under $4.
