Tucked away at the back of this Chinese coffeeshop is this elderly uncle churning out cake after cake after cake. He makes other cakes as well but the cempedak was what we were here for. Fresh out of the oven, the cake was moist and soft and studded with pieces of fragrant cempedak. It can be a bit on the sweeter side, due to the nature of the fruit but it’s great with some nice oolong tea. Be nice to the uncle and he may just reward you with a bag of off-cuts 😉.
